Maple is a beautiful wood. Light, clean, and bright - it looks great when it's in good shape. But here's the thing about maple: it's softer than a lot of people think, and it shows wear faster than most other hardwood species. Scratches, dents, and staining can creep up on you quickly.

That's exactly what we're working with here. These maple floors have clearly seen years of foot traffic, and it shows. There are yellow-tinted stains soaked into the finish, surface scratches scattered throughout, and uneven color across different rooms. Not a disaster - but definitely past the point where a simple clean-up does anything useful.

This is a hardwood floor restoration and sanding job before the refinishing work begins. The floors have to be fully sanded down first - stripping away the old finish and bringing the wood back to bare. That's the only way to deal with staining and scratches that have worked their way into the surface. Skipping that step and just coating over the top would trap all of that damage underneath.

Once the sanding is done, we'll move into the custom stain and finish work. That's where the floor really gets its new direction - the color, the sheen level, the whole look. Maple takes stain a little differently than oak, so that part requires some care to get right. The results will be worth it.

If your hardwood floors are looking anything like this - dull, scratched, uneven, or stained - refinishing is almost always the better call over replacement. The wood underneath is still solid. It just needs the right process to bring it back.
